Eleanor Hunton Hoppe - Virginia Socialite Mom Snared In FBI Pedoph
Virginia socialite mom Eleanor Hunton Hoppe has used trickery to evade her phone calls being monitored in the jail where she is held on charges of planning a horrific sex assault on an eight-year-old girl, according to new court papers obtained by DailyMail.com.
Hoppe - the ex-wife of a federal judge - has been caught entering the allocated PIN numbers of other inmates to call her family in a bid to have secretive conversations, prosecutors claim.
And her family of noted attorneys has played along with her scheme, federal authorities claim.
Hoppe has been calling her distinguished lawyer father, Eppa Hunton V, for unmonitored 'client' calls after claiming he was her attorney of record when he is not, US Attorney Matthew Graves said in the new filings.
But the 45-year-old mom of two, who was snared in an FBI sting last March, was caught out after being heard discussing the scheme in calls to her father, a member of one of Richmond's leading legal families, according to the latest filing.
Transcripts of conversations between the two were included in the US Government's opposition to Hoppe's latest plea for pretrial release from the Correctional Treatment Facility in Washington DC, where she has been held since her dramatic arrest last March.
Eleanor Hunton Hoppe, 45, has been caught entering the allocated PIN numbers of other inmates to call her family in a bid to have secretive conversations, prosecutors claim in a new filing from January 31
The latest filing opposes (pictured left with her ex-husband Judge Joel Hoppe) Hunton Hoppe's second request for pre-trial release on December 9, in which she claimed she's 'not particularly dangerous' and has asked to live with an aunt while she awaits trial
She filed a motion to the US District Court for the District of Columbia to be freed on December 9 last year saying she was 'not particularly dangerous' and wants to be allowed to live with an aunt while proceedings continue.
It was the second time she has attempted to be sprung from incarceration over the case in which she's accused of driving to meet a man she met over the internet - and who she believed would bring his young daughter to a hotel so they could abuse her together.
However, the opposition filing states: 'The government has recently discovered that the defendant is engaged in ongoing misconduct at the Correctional Treatment Facility to avoid having her phone calls monitored.
'Namely, the defendant has used the PIN numbers of other inmates to place calls in an attempt to evade monitoring by law enforcement.'
It also says that Hoppe claimed to the Department of Corrections that her 76-year-old father and her brother Eppa Hunton VI, 43, are her attorneys of record and so should be on the 'do not record/monitor' list - but the two lawyers are not her legal representatives.
Additionally, it was revealed in the transcripts that members of Hoppe's family are in discussions to have a book written on her case.
In a call to her mother Mary, 74, on June 29, 2023, Hoppe said: 'Here's what I'm going to do, because I'm super sick of every time I give you guys sensitive information, it seems to blow up in my face.
'I don't know why it took me so long to figure this out, but I'm going to start calling you from other people's phones. Why? Because nobody monitors their phones from the prosecution, like they monitor my phone. Haha!
The January 31 filing obtained by DailyMail.com includes phone transcripts in which Hoppe, 45, discusses the scheme in calls to her family
'So, if you get calls from corrections agencies from people you've never heard the name, please accept them. I mean, we're not going to call collect, I'm going to use my money. Doesn't that make sense?
'Why haven't I been doing that the past few months? I don't know. Probably because I'm not used to being in jail. That might be.'
Days later, in a July 1 call to her father, she confirms the plan and appears to gloat by saying: 'The plan is, because I'm sick of… well, there's some things, there's plenty of stuff that the prosecution hasn't overheard…
'But it you get calls from, I don't know how it comes through… saying people at the jail are calling you or whatever, from random people, that's still me.
'We gonna start - I don't know why it took me so long to figure this out - I'm gonna start using other people's phones to call you, they'll use my phone to call their people, you know what I mean, so that we can talk.'
The transcript says Eppa Hunton V replies: 'Oh yeah. Just to confuse the listeners?'
Hoppe: 'Yeah. Brilliant isn't it.'
Her father: 'Brilliant.'
Hoppe: 'I don't know why the hell I didn't think of this earlier.'
In an exchange with both parents the same day, the transcripts say Hoppe tells them: 'I'll be sure to give you everything… from somebody else's phone.' (Laughs)
Her father: 'All right.' (Laughs)
She also appears to indicate that the pin number swaps were already taking place, with other inmates also calling their families unmonitored - and breaching security.
Hoppe: 'You should hear the stuff that's rolling around, now that everybody's… I was like ladies, how does this work? And I got them to test it out with their families. Now people are like, oh my god… people are on the phone to family and friends…like they're coming after you… head out of state for a while. I'm like, oh s***.'
Her father: (Laughs)
Prosecutors argue that Hunton Hoppe's alleged misconduct is grounds to deny her motion for pre-trial release
Hoppe: 'Yeah exactly. 'Oh that Hispanic woman talking to the cops.' I'm like, oh my god. This is not what I intended at all. Yeah, totally. 'So and so is snitching, get 'em'. I just can't even.'
At this point Hoppe's mother says: 'Please write this stuff down. I'm not kidding. I have talked to someone and they are very interested in putting together a book.'
The filing also included conversation transcripts where Hoppe appears to induce her father to go along with her plan for another way to have unmonitored calls.
He is not her attorney of record, but she says to him: 'I need your bar number so that you can be added to a confidential attorney list so that I can call you confidentially.'
Eppa Hunton V: 'Oh interesting. Yeah.' (Gives bar number)
Hoppe: 'Alright. When somebody calls you, don't say 'I'm her dad'. OK? They'll just call you to get permission because you're an attorney that helps me.'
Her father: 'OK.'
Hoppe's ex-husband Joel Hoppe, a magistrate judge in the Western District of Virginia, sought to modify the custody agreement for his two daughters after her arrest last year
The filing states: 'The government has confirmed that beginning on September 26, 2023 and continuing to the present, the defendant placed dozens of calls to her father's number that were free, unrecorded attorney-client calls - despite the fact that he is not her attorney and does not represent her.'
The government filing reiterated that Hoppe wanted to be released into the custody of an aunt, who would ensure she had no access to electronic devices.
'However, the defendant's own actions while at CTF undercut this claim… the defendant simple needs access to a phone to reoffend,' it says.
'The misconduct that she has engaged in at CTF involving phone usage shows her willingness to use deceit and manipulation to evade restrictions placed on her phone access.
'Moreover, the defendant is willing to involve her family in her misconduct and, in turn, her family has willingly joined in her behavior without hesitation or concern for the rules that the defendant is supposed to abide by.'
It adds: 'Given the serious danger that the defendant's access to a phone poses to children, a third-party custodian - particularly a family member with not monitoring experience - is not sufficient to protect the community.'
DailyMail.com contacted the laws office of Eppa Hunton V in Richmond about the latest filing and was told: 'He has no comment.'
The arrest of Hoppe, the ex-wife of federal judge Joel Hoppe, stunned elite communities in Charlottesville, where she was living and her native Richmond, bokep indo where she grew up amid wealth and privilege as a member of her legal powerhouse family.
Hunton Hoppe's dramatic arrest outside a hotel in Warrenton, Virginia last March came after weeks of messaging with an undercover FBI agent about a fictitious eight-year-old girl she allegedly sought to abuse
Joel Hoppe filed for divorce from in May 2020, eight months after the couple separated, claiming she 'initiated sexual contact, and committed adultery' with another man
Hoppe is being held iin the District of Columbia Correctional Treatment Facility in Washington
She was snared at a hotel in Warrenton, Virginia, after allegedly arranging to meet a man she believed was a perverted father she had met on a fetish website.
It is claimed she planned to sexually abuse the man's eight-year-old girl with him. But the girl was fictitious and the man she had been chatting with online turned out to be an FBI agent.
Hoppe had messaged the undercover cop sickening details about what she wanted to do the child, according to court filings.
She was also accused of sending the agent a 30-second video and three still images of young minor girls being horrifically sexually abused by men.
Hoppe pleaded not guilty to distribution of child pornography, coercion and enticement of a minor and attempted transportation of a minor with intent to engage in sexual activity.
She had previously worked in child advocacy and support organizations and was a volunteer at her prestigious local Episcopal church in Charlottesville that is affiliated with the University of Virginia, DailyMail.com revealed.
The mom is accused of entering a fetish website where users discuss and trade images of child sex abuse, according to the criminal complaint filed in the US District Court for the District of Columbia.
A criminal complaint obtained by DailyMail.com last year confirmed she was charged with three federal crimes: Distributing child porn, enticement of a minor and attempted transportation of a minor with attempt to engage in sexual activity
She allegedly used the screen-name 'titotori' and started an email chat with another user, who was an undercover FBI Task Force officer based at the Washington DC field office and operating out of a satellite location.
According to the filing, Hoppe told the agent she was a mother and wanted to chat about 'taboo parenting'.
The undercover officer responded he was the father of a young girl, at which point Hoppe directed the agent to a social media app that encrypts messages.
There, she used the name 'tori4fun' and in a series of messages starting February 23 she revealed she lived in Charlottesville.
On February 27, 2023 the Virginia mom allegedly contacted the agent through the app to ask about the abuse he was perpetrating against his daughter, saying 'what do you think your next step will be?'
Throughout the message exchange Hoppe expressed an interest in traveling to Washington to abuse the undercover agent's fictitious daughter with him, the papers stated.
She repeatedly said she wanted to help the 'father' introduce the eight-year-old to sexual activity - and around March 12, 2023 it was agreed she would travel from her home, said the filing.
Hoppe is said to have messaged the undercover agent with the sickening words: 'I can't wait and then of course, putting her to bed and waking her up to do a few extra things will be so fun.'
She then suggested something about anal sex, later adding: 'Has she seen videos of little girls with her dad yet?'
Hoppe is then said to have sent the agent a 30-second clip of a 'small-framed female who appears to be on a bed'.
The complaint says: 'The small female, who appears to be a minor, can only be seen from behind, and she is nude from the waist down.' It continues to say that a man is having sex with the female in the video.
On March 16, the filing says, Hoppe sent three images to the undercover agent who was in an FBI office. All three showed men having sex with prepubescent girls.
That afternoon it was agreed she would travel 70 miles to a hotel in Warrenton.
'Hoppe sent the UC (undercover officer) a photograph of a pink silk robe she would bring, with the message, 'Her big girl robe for tonight'.'
Even as she traveled for the meeting, Hoppe messaged with horrific instructions and suggestions, it is alleged. However, she was arrested as soon as she arrived at the hotel.
Despite claiming she had traveled there to save the child from abuse, officers found a pink children's bag containing lubricant, silk underwear and a pink silk robe in her car.
Judge Hoppe, who sits at the United States District Court for the Western District of Virginia, later filed for sole custody of their children days after the arrest, citing shocking allegations in legal documents exclusively revealed by DailyMail.com.
The ex-spouses had previously agreed to joint physical custody in May 2021 after a messy divorce battle - during which the magistrate judge accused his ex-wife of hunting for sex with other men and women.
In court papers filed in Albemarle Circuit Court, Virginia, Joel, 46, further claimed that his ex had brought a sexual partner back to the marital home while their young daughters were there.
The $200,000-a-year judge filed for divorce in May 2020, eight months the couple separated. He also made clear he was not involved in anything his then-wife was doing, with the complaint stating: 'The adultery was not procured nor due do the conniving of the plaintiff.'
